Your essay detailing your vision for the New England Region Phi Theta Kappa
and what you would do to help achieve that vision. 300-500 words, please:
Hello, first
let me introduce myself. My name is Kimber Britton; I am 34 years old, a mother,
a wife and a full time student. Being a daughter of a cancer victim and a person
who has battled cancer myself, our service project is really important to me.
My visions for the New England Region of Phi Theta Kappa are many. I have been
an active officer with the Alpha Upsilon Alpha chapter in Manchester, CT for about
two years now and it has really been a very worthwhile endeavor. I could not be
happier being an officer for our chapter; it has been an experience that I will
take with me wherever I decide to go as I go along the path to bettering myself.
Being an active member has given me the opportunity to make many new friends and
has showed me just how important it is to get involved with community. Before
I never got “around tuit”. I feel this experience has helped me grow as a person,
as a mom and as a leader in my community.
These are the things I would like to do as a regional officer are many but I have only a few words to use, so I will keep it down to a few. I would like to chair a committee to coordinate the ALL-USA Team nominations better. I would like to actively contact chapters early in the fall semester and let them know how important it is to have representation from their respective colleges. I thing that we our region needs to be better represented. I am a nominee this year and I am very excited about it. It was a lot of work but I believe well worth the effort. I want to stress I would also like to see more fellowship between the different states. The Fall Leadership conference was a huge success and I would like to do more with other chapters. I would like to see more active members in the region’s chapters. I would like to get the word out about what a positive experience it has been. I think that we could implement a sister chapter program, for two years, two separate chapters would be sister chapters. This would include attending each others induction’s, CO-chairing service and community projects.
